Version 3.0 of OpenDDS Released

ST. LOUIS, MO - OCI announced today that a new major release of OpenDDS, their open source C++ implementation of the Object Management Group's (OMG) Data Distribution Service (DDS) is now available to for free download.

OpenDDS has been under accelerated development since the the 2009 award in of an 18 month SBIR development contract by the US Navy. The new version includes an open source, UML-based graphical modeling kit and code generator. This productivity tool was recently used on a financial systems project, where it demonstrated its capacity to speed up development and evolution of OpenDDS based messaging systems. OCI has developed new classes on the modeling technology to help clients get the most of this toolkit.

DDS for real-time systems is emerging as a significant technology in the real-time middleware software segment. Many high level Department of Defense framework initiatives for embedded systems are now including DDS as crucial to their functionality. Recent examples include FACE (Future Air Capability Environment) and UCS (Unmanned air systems Control Segment).

OCI's user base for OpenDDS now includes companies using the technology for robotics and financial real-time analytics. Dr. Ebrahim Moshiri, CEO of OCI, noted, "The broad appeal of this technology is expanding the market segments that we serve. Everyone wants diversity today. Even our Navy customers want to see commercial adoption of DDS technology."
