OCI To Offer "jQuery Rich Internet Application Development" Training

ST. LOUIS, MO - OCI will debut its newest training course, "jQuery Rich Internet Application Development," beginning 21 September 2010 at Washington University's Center for the Application of Information Technology (CAIT). The class runs Tuesday and Thursday evenings through 30 September 2010.

jQuery is a very popular JavaScript library that simplifies writing cross-browser web applications that perform DOM traversal/modification, event handling, animation, Ajax and more. This hands-on course will introduce students to using jQuery for creating rich web applications that have features found in desktop applications. JavaScript is the only programming language supported by all major web browsers. Recent improvements in JavaScript engine performance and the release of the 5th Edition of the ECMAScript Language Specification (the specification for the JavaScript language), will result in JavaScript and associated libraries like jQuery being used more heavily to create rich, web-based user interfaces. After completing this seminar, participants will:

  • Have a working knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript programming
  • Be able to use the jQuery library to create rich web applications

This 2-day course is intended for developers who want to learn how to create Rich Internet Applications. The only prerequisites are some experience with HTML and CSS, and experience with any programming language. Students will learn everything they need to know about HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in this course before covering the jQuery JavaScript library.
