Steve Totten

Steve Totten joined OCI in 1997 and has been a partner since 2003.  He received his B.S. from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) and has continued his education at SIUE and Washington University.

Mr. Totten has over 25 years experience building and integrating systems in a variety of domains, including defense, telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing, and finance.  His focus has been primarily on infrastructure services and distributed systems.  He also contributes to OCI 's educational services in the area of Distributed Computing.

"I've always enjoyed finding ways to make disparate systems work together.  This usually involves a combination of analysis, systems integration, applying the right technology, and helping customers leverage their investments in existing systems while taking advantage of adaptable and scalable distributed architectures.  I learned long ago that software systems rarely start with a blank white board; they are usually built by reusing as much existing functionality as possible, adding new features as necessary to 'plug the gaps,' then combining these in ways that accomplish the customer's business goals without breaking their budget."

"I am very proud of the work we do in the Internal Development Center, the quality of our people, the level of service we provide to our customers, and the growth we have experienced. I hope to expand our offerings with new open source products, new services and solutions, and extend our reach into new markets and domains."

Mr. Totten is married, has two daughters (one in college, one in high school), and several pets.  He enjoys books, music, and cooking.
