Goals

This workshop introduces participants to concepts and techniques for effective mobile user interface design. The focus is on designing and prototyping mobile user experiences that are simple, intuitive, and fun.

This course is offered in St. Louis, Missouri through Washington University's Center for the Application of Information Technology (CAIT) and can be applied toward a Certificate of Advanced Studies from CAIT.   • Mobile vs. desktop user experience
  • Performance
  • Display size, resolution, and readability (including tablets)
  • Use of color, sounds, and voice
  • Interaction styles (touch, multi-touch, swipes, motions, etc.)
  • Multi-tasking
  • Menus, menu depth, and other methods of navigation
  • Text input constraints
  • Sensitivity to the context of usage (semantic, spatial, social, temporal)
